GetaWood Consulting, LLC, is an immigrant-founded consulting located in Minnesota focusing on full-service community engagement, diversity, equity, and inclusion practices, guided by experience professional. After years of working directly with communities on various projects and initiatives, we realized the gaps in communication and the lack of culturally specific engagement or contribution of entire communities being left out of conversations. We understand that establishing the right connections, equitable communications and collaborations are essential to the outcomes of projects, programs and activities that impact our communities.
At GetaWood, community engagement is not about checking the box. We believe projects have better outcomes when communities are informed, educated, and are part of the process. We believe that our communities have valuable insights, knowledge, information, and ideas that cannot be ignored when decisions that impact them are being made. We can only establish good buy-ins and better outcomes when the community is involved in the decision making process.

MARGRETTA GETAWEH is a transformational leader, reproductive justice advocate, and community engagement professional with over 15 years of experience working in the public and private sectors to dismantle systemic barriers that limit access to resources and information. She specializes in community engagement strategies, strategic partnerships, program design, implementation, and evaluation. Her approach to consulting stems from her interest in and passion to help communities be successful. Her experience working with communities directs her ability to listen, access needs, and co-create viable solutions. Margretta is committed to serving her community. She co-founded the African Immigrant Professional Development Conference to help underemployed immigrants network and navigate the workforce development system to achieve economic mobility. Margretta holds a B.A. in Global Studies and Social Justice from the University of M.N. and M.A. in International Development and Service from Concordia University, Portland, OR.
