GetaWood Consulting, LLC is a Minnesota based firm specializing in inclusive process design, equity-driven engagement, and strategic advising for organizations that serve the public good. With over 15 years of experience in community engagement, philanthropy, and equity-centered practices, we partner with city governments, philanthropic institutions, nonprofits, and boards to ensure that decision-making processes truly reflect the voices and needs of the communities they impact.

Our work is grounded in the belief that better outcomes come from authentic, inclusive engagement — where communication is clear, culturally relevant, and power is shared. Too often, communities are left out of conversations that shape their future due to gaps in communication, inaccessible processes, or a lack of culturally specific approaches. We help close those gaps.
As an immigrant-owned consulting firm, we bring lived experience and professional expertise to creating spaces where equity, diversity, and inclusion are more than values — they are practices. Margretta Getaweh, MA
MARGRETTA GETAWEH is a transformational leader, reproductive justice advocate, and community engagement professional with over 15 years of experience working in the public and private sectors to dismantle systemic barriers that limit access to resources and information. She specializes in community engagement strategies, strategic partnerships, program design, implementation, and evaluation. Her approach to consulting stems from her interest in and passion to help communities be successful. Her experience working with communities directs her ability to listen, access needs, and co-create viable solutions. Margretta is committed to serving her community. She co-founded the African Immigrant Professional Development Conference to help underemployed immigrants network and navigate the workforce development system to achieve economic mobility. Margretta holds a B.A. in Global Studies and Social Justice from the University of M.N. and M.A. in International Development and Service from Concordia University, Portland, OR.
